Category AM includes motor vehicles with a
maximum design speed not exceeding 45 km/h:
Category A1 includes:
A holder of this licence before reaching the age of 18 (a “17-year-old driver”) may drive vehicles of category B only if accompanied by a registered mentor.
Category B1 includes four-wheeled vehicles (except AM vehicles) with an output not exceeding 15 kW and an unladen mass not exceeding 400 kg (or 550 kg for goods vehicles).
Category T includes tractors and self-propelled work machinery, with or without a trailer.
Category A2: Motorcycles, with or without a sidecar, with a maximum engine output of 35 kW, power-to-weight ratio not exceeding 0.2 kW/kg, and not derived from a motorcycle with more than twice the original power.
Category B: Motor vehicles up to 3,500 kg maximum authorised mass, with up to 8 passenger seats in addition to the driver’s seat, with or without a trailer (up to 750 kg). Extended combinations may reach up to 4,250 kg.
Category B+E: Vehicle combinations of a category B vehicle and a trailer exceeding 750 kg, up to 3,500 kg.
Category C1: Motor vehicles over 3,500 kg but not exceeding 7,500 kg, with up to 8 passenger seats in addition to the driver, with a trailer up to 750 kg.
Category C1+E: Vehicle combinations not exceeding 12,000 kg, composed of:
Category C: Vehicles over 3,500 kg, with up to 8 passenger seats in addition to the driver, with a trailer up to 750 kg.
Category C+E: Combinations of a category C vehicle with a trailer exceeding 750 kg.
Category D1: Vehicles up to 8 metres in length, with more than 8 but no more than 16 passenger seats in addition to the driver, with a trailer up to 750 kg.
Category D1+E: Combinations of a category D1 vehicle with a trailer exceeding 750 kg.
Category A includes:
Category A may be obtained from 21 years of age if limited to three-wheeled vehicles, or from 20 years of age with at least 2 years of holding an A2 licence.
Category D: Motor vehicles (except D1) with more than 8 passenger seats in addition to the driver, with a trailer up to 750 kg.
Category D+E: Combinations of a category D vehicle with a trailer exceeding 750 kg.
